Crystal glasses on a table by a window, with a purple orchid and a view of a wooded mountain.

The hotel and the valley

Two stemmed glasses and a water glass by a window, with an orchid in front and a wooded mountain behind.

Mouthier-Haute-Pierre is a small Franche-Comté town of character, between Besançon (35 km) and Pontarlier (15 km), beside the Loue valley and the Gorges de Nouailles, described as the source of the Loue.

The landscapes are associated with Gustave Courbet. Around the hotel: hiking and mountain-bike routes, first-category trout fishing, and canoeing or kayaking on more than 60 km of river.

The building

The hotel stands on a rocky spur. The restaurant, on the ground floor, is reached from the road and overlooks the valley. The rooms are on the lower level, facing the valley, most of them with a balcony. A small terrace is available in summer.
